A reserve for inanimate nature in the Table Mountains near Gorzeszów, protecting the sandstone Gorzeszowskie Skałki shaped like figures, walls and towers.
The Głazy Krasnoludków (Gnomes' Boulders) nature reserve lies in Zawory, in the north-western part of the Table Mountains, in the Central Sudetes, in the Kamienna Góra municipality. It covers 9.04 hectares on the slope of a wooded hill, above the Jawiszówka stream, about two kilometres south-west of Gorzeszów. The reserve was established in 1970 by an order of the Minister of Forestry and the Timber Industry.
This is a reserve for inanimate nature, of a geological and soil type, created above all to protect the natural weathering forms of Upper Cretaceous sandstone, as well as rare protected plant species and natural plant communities. The area is subject to active protection.
The main feature of the reserve is the Gorzeszowskie Skałki, rock formations built of sandstones and marls, carved by water. Their shapes resemble figures, walls, towers and mushrooms, which gave the reserve its name.
Not far from the reserve stands the Cistercian Abbey in Krzeszów with the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Nearby it is also worth seeing other rock formations of the Kamienne Mountains, for example the Devil's Club - Devil's Rock or the Kruczy Kamień nature reserve.
