A forest nature reserve on the slope of the Lusatian Neisse valley near Bogatynia, protecting fragments of natural oak-hornbeam forest; closed to visitors.
The Grądy near Posada nature reserve protects a fragment of natural forest on the steep slope of the Lusatian Neisse valley, in the municipality of Bogatynia, in Zgorzelec County. The area is not open to visitors.
The reserve was established by an ordinance of the Lower Silesian voivode on 12 June 2002, in order to preserve fragments of natural oak-hornbeam forest, including maple-lime oak-hornbeam forest. It covers 5.27 hectares of forest. The entire area lies within the "Przełomowa Dolina Nysy Łużyckiej" Natura 2000 site.
The reserve occupies a steep, wooded slope of the river valley, cut through by ravines of its unnamed tributaries. Difficult access and its position near the border meant that the stand of trees kept its natural character, with a large share of old trees.
The plant survey lists around 150 plant species, including the protected goat's beard (Aruncus dioicus). Among the animals found here are the stoat (Mustela erminea), the European water vole (Arvicola amphibius) and the Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra), and 20 bird species nest in the reserve.
The reserve area has not been made available for visiting. The nearest marked hiking trail passes about 250 metres away, so the reserve can only be viewed from a certain distance.
