A tenement house in Zgorzelec where the philosopher and mystic Jacob Böhme lived and worked, today with a reconstruction of his workshop and creative room.
The Jacob Böhme House is a tenement house on Daszyńskiego street in Zgorzelec, where the German mystic and philosopher Jacob Böhme lived and worked.
Jacob Böhme lived in this building, creating his most important philosophical writings here.
The house features a reconstructed shoemaker's workshop, where Böhme worked before devoting himself to writing. On the upper floor is the room in which the mystic created his works, with copies of manuscripts and first editions of his books.
A few hundred metres further stands the Zgorzelec-Görlitz Old Town Bridge, and the Lusatian Museum in Zgorzelec also operates nearby. On the other side of town it is worth calling in at St Boniface's Church in Zgorzelec.
