About Jan Wyżykowski Museum of the Lubin Region

A museum of copper mining in the "Bolesław" shaft in Lubin, with a reconstructed gallery and a collection devoted to Jan Wyżykowski.

The Jan Wyżykowski Museum of the Lubin Region is housed in the "Bolesław" shaft belonging to KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., on national road No. 3 towards Polkowice. The institution was established in 2002 and is run by the Society of Friends of the Lubin Region.

Collections related to the Copper Basin

The museum's exhibition displays mining machinery, copper minerals and items related to the history of the region and of copper mining here. A separate part of the collection consists of biographical material devoted to Jan Wyżykowski, the museum's patron. The exhibition is complemented by mining equipment and clothing.

A reconstructed gallery

The museum has a reconstructed mine gallery, so visitors can see what the mine's corridors looked like instead of relying only on display cases with exhibits.

Not just an exhibition

Besides its exhibition function, the institution also organises cultural events, including concerts.
