About Jedlinka Palace

A baroque 17th-century palace in Jedlinka near Jedlina-Zdrój, today a museum, hotel and brewery, entered in the heritage register.

Jedlinka Palace stands in Jedlinka, part of Jedlina-Zdrój, at the foot of the Wałbrzych Mountains in Lower Silesia. The baroque residence passed from ducal ownership, through a wartime design office and a post-war state farm, to today's museum and hotel complex.

From Tannhausen to Jedlinka

The first mention of the village, then called Tannhausen, dates from the 13th century. Its owner at the time was Duke Bolko I the Strict of Jawor-Świdnica. The last private owner of the palace before the war was Gustaw Boehm.

Architecture and rebuilding

The building was erected at the beginning of the 17th century as a baroque manor house, its design attributed to Carl Gotthard Langhans. In the second half of the 19th century the palace was rebuilt; the heritage register dates this rebuilding to 1862-1864. The building was constructed of brick.

War and the state-farm years

Between 1944 and 1945 the palace housed a design office of the German Nazi Organisation Todt, which at the time was engaged, among other things, in building military installations in the nearby Owl Mountains. After the war the building was handed over to the State Agricultural Farm, which used the palace's interiors, among other things, for storing hay. The residence stood then far from tourists, given over to agricultural use far removed from its former function.

Restoration and today's functions

In 2004 the site, along with the palace, was bought by the company Felix Investments. The palace and adjoining buildings were restored, bringing back their former appearance after years of neglect during the state-farm period. Today they house a museum, a hotel, a hostel and ballrooms, so the building combines the function of a heritage site open for visiting with an accommodation function. Since 2014, one of the buildings of the former palace and park complex has housed the Jedlinka Brewery with its own restaurant hall, where you can eat a meal after touring the palace interiors.

Heritage protection

The palace is entered in the register of immovable heritage monuments under number 686/WŁ from 27 January 1978, with the entry confirmed again under number A/4224/686/Wł on 8 November 2010.

The Wałbrzych Mountains area

Within a few kilometres of the palace lie other sites of the former Riese complex: Włodarz with the Riese Włodarz underground complex, the mysterious Osówka and Zamek Grodno. For the views, it's also worth heading to Borowa.
