About "Juna" Earth Museum in Szklarska Poręba

A private museum of minerals and fossils from the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains) in the historic Walloon Watchtower in Szklarska Poręba.

The "Juna" Earth Museum in Szklarska Poręba is a private collection of minerals and gemstones, housed in the historic Walloon Watchtower.

Where the museum is located

The institution occupies the building of the former Walloon Watchtower and is linked to the Sudetes Walloon Brotherhood. The building underwent restoration co-financed from EU funds earmarked for rural development, and the museum reopened in its new form in September 2018. The institution holds the "Treasures of the Spirit of the Mountains" Local Brand certificate.

What you'll see inside

The exhibition presents minerals and fossils from the Karkonosze region. One of the newer parts of the display is a collection of fluorescent minerals, visible under ultraviolet light.

The town's second mineral museum

The "Juna" Earth Museum is one of two mineral and gemstone museums in Szklarska Poręba, alongside the Mineralogical Museum in Szklarska Poręba. Both institutions display a similar kind of collection, but are housed in different buildings and under different names.
