A 19th-century palace in the hamlet of Kuchary near Jaźwina (Łagiewniki municipality, Dzierżoniów County), with a surviving manor-farm complex in the heritage register.
The palace stands in Kuchary, a hamlet of the village of Jaźwina in the Łagiewniki municipality, in Dzierżoniów County. The first mentions of a manor house on this site date from 1830 and 1845, but the current building is younger.
The palace proper was built in the second half of the 19th century, in 1870, for Count von Oriola. At the beginning of the 20th century the building was remodelled by Günther von Zedlitz und Leipe, who lived from 1876 to 1924, giving it the form that can be seen today.
The building has one storey, is built of brick and has three wings, raised on an H-shaped plan. It is covered by a gable roof and a hipped mansard roof with dormers and oxeye windows. The facade of the main body is distinguished by a three-axis, flat projecting bay topped with a triangular pediment bearing the coat of arms cartouche of the von Zedlitz-Leipe family.
The municipal heritage register, under numbers 48-53, lists the entire palace-and-park complex together with the manor farm: the palace itself, the wall with the entrance gate, two cowsheds and the palace park. This shows that alongside the main building, part of the surrounding farm buildings has also survived.
Within a few kilometres, other former landed-gentry seats have survived, including the Manor House in Stoszów and Roztocznik Palace. A little further on, towards the border of Wrocław County, rises Mount Ślęża, the most recognisable landmark of this part of Lower Silesia.
