A monument designed by Tadeusz Teller by the Wrocław Opera House, commemorating the victims of the Stalinist system, unveiled in 1989.
The Monument to the Victims of Stalinism stands in Wrocław, not far from the Wrocław Opera House.
The monument was designed by Tadeusz Teller. It was unveiled on 17 September 1989. Its form resembles a dolmen, made up of tilted stone slabs. On the right side is placed a cross, on the left an eagle, and in the centre the Virtuti Militari cross. Beneath the central cross is a metal plaque with an inscription dedicated to the victims of the Stalinist system imposed on Poles, as a warning for the living and future generations. The whole is crowned with a stylised crown of thorns.
On the right side of the monument is an additional plaque dedicated to those who rebuilt Poland and developed the Recovered Territories. The plaques with inscriptions were added to the monument in 1995.
The monument stands next to the Wrocław Opera House. Nearby are also the National Forum of Music and the Town Hall at the Market Square.
