An open-air museum in Pstrążna near Kudowa-Zdrój, with seventeen historic wooden buildings from the Sudeten Foothills.
The Museum of Folk Culture of the Sudeten Foothills in Kudowa-Zdrój is an open-air museum in Pstrążna, where seventeen historic wooden buildings from the Sudeten Foothills region stand, together with interior furnishings and farming equipment from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.
The site holds seventeen historic wooden buildings relocated from the Sudeten Foothills. The first building to be relocated was a combined dwelling and farm building with a forge. The structures show the skill of the old carpenters, who built them without nails, joining the beams in log-cabin fashion.
Inside, old furniture and household equipment from the 18th to the 20th centuries have been preserved. The exhibition shows what everyday life and work looked like in the countryside of this region, from the living quarters to the farm outbuildings.
The open-air museum was established in 1984 as a branch of the Museum in Wałbrzych. Since 1 January 2006 it has been an independent cultural institution, run by the municipality of Kudowa-Zdrój.
