A museum of film props from the comedy "Our Folks" in the historic, 16th-century Linen Weavers' House in Lubomierz.
The Museum of Kargul and Pawlak is located in Lubomierz, at Wacława Kowalskiego street 1, in the former Linen Weavers' House, a building dating from the 16th century. The museum is dedicated to the film characters Kargul and Pawlak, heroes of the 1967 comedy "Our Folks" and its sequels, "No One Can Beat Us" (Polish: "Nie ma mocnych") from 1974 and "Love or Leave" from 1977, directed by Sylwester Chęciński.
Residents of Lubomierz began collecting film-related memorabilia in 1992. The museum was established in 1995 thanks to a local initiative and the support of the mayor.
The exhibition consists of props used during filming, among them the shotgun with its famous fault, a costume element with a grenade, and a fragment of the film fence. The collection also includes the first copy of "Our Folks", shown at its premiere.
The building housing the museum was constructed in the 16th century as the seat of the linen weavers' guild. It is built of brick, in the Renaissance style, and its function in the register of monuments is defined as a residential building. It is entered in the register of historic monuments under numbers 1024 of 15 January 1964 and A/5471/1024 of 5 December 2011, as well as in the municipal register of monuments.
Not far away is the Castle of Silesian Legends in Pławna Dolna and Gryf Castle. It is also worth visiting the Miliński Gallery and the nearby adit in Pławna Górna.
