A baroque sandstone fountain in the Market Square in Świdnica, with sculptures of Neptune, a Triton and sea horses from 1716-1731.
The Neptune Fountain stands in the Market Square in Świdnica, at the mouth of Grodzka street.
The group of sculptures was carved from sandstone in 1716-1731, by the sculptor Jerzy Leonard Weber. On the fountain stand figures of Neptune and a Triton, along with two sea horses.
The fountain's basin is enclosed by plaques bearing coats of arms: of Świdnica, of Jan von Schaffgotsch, then starost of the Świdnica-Jawor duchy, as well as of Austria-Hungary, the Świdnica-Jawor duchy and the Kingdom of Bohemia.
The fountain lies in the very centre of Świdnica, right next to the Museum of Old Trade in Świdnica and the Town Hall Tower. A few minutes' walk separates it from the Cathedral of St Stanislaus and St Wenceslaus, and a little further stands the Church of Peace.
