The town hall tower by the Market Square in Świdnica, a 58-metre viewpoint with a terrace at a height of 38 metres.
The Town Hall Tower in Świdnica is a viewpoint right in the centre of the town, by the Market Square, with terraces offering a view over the town and its surroundings from above.
The tower is 58 metres high. The viewing terrace is at a height of 38 metres, and it can be reached both by stairs and by lift, though the last two levels are covered on foot by stairs.
The first tower on this site was built as far back as the second half of the 14th century. In 1967 it collapsed as a result of carelessly conducted demolition work on the neighbouring tenement houses, which weakened its structure. The current tower is the result of a reconstruction carried out between 2010 and 2012, partly funded by European money.
The tower stands right next to the Museum of Old Trade in Świdnica and the Neptune Fountain. A few hundred metres away are the Cathedral of St Stanislaus and St Wenceslaus and the Church of Peace in Świdnica.
