A municipal park in Muchobór Wielki in Wrocław, on both banks of the Ślęza, with roller-skating tracks, the European Capital of Culture Avenue and outdoor sculptures.
Park Tysiąclecia (Millennium Park) is a municipal park in the western part of Wrocław, in the Muchobór Wielki estate, whose creation began in 2000. It covers about 90 hectares and lies on both banks of the Ślęza river. The park forms the eastern part of a larger, never fully realised scheme known as Park Nowodworski.
The park was designed by a team of authors from the Wrocław University of Technology, following a concept chosen in a competition in 2000. It envisaged, among other things, the Avenue of Ten Centuries, a dog path, an artificial ravine, the Liczyrzepa spring, the Forum of a Hundred Springs, an artificial reservoir with a yacht marina and a beach, two polders, a wellness centre and a cycling track. Due to insufficient funding and difficulties in purchasing land, the concept was initially not fully realised, though over time the part lying on the right bank of the Ślęza was also built.
The part of the park on the left bank of the Ślęza is densely wooded, with a square with a car park, a small bridge over the Kasina stream, and a fire access road running along the Ślęza. The right bank saw the later part of the 2000 concept realised.
The park has roller-skating tracks and is crossed by the European Capital of Culture Avenue. There are also two sculptures here: "Wilczy dół" ("Wolf Pit") and "Niedźwiedź" ("Bear"). The area is managed by the city's green spaces authority.
The park lies on the outskirts of the centre, near other green spaces in Wrocław, such as Park Zachodni or Grabiszyński Park. Towards the city centre you can reach the Market Square and the National Forum of Music.
