About Radio Wrocław Museum

A museum at Radio Wrocław with about 300 exhibits: receivers, microphones and equipment documenting more than a century of radio history.

Radio Wrocław Museum is housed in the Polish Radio building on Karkonoska street 10, in the Krzyki-Partynice district. It is a small but densely packed venue devoted to more than a century of radio history.

Building of a former private broadcaster

The building in which the museum operates was built for the private broadcaster Schlesische Funkstunde AG, active from 1924 to 1932. Since 1946 the building has been occupied by Radio Wrocław. The museum at the broadcaster was founded in 2001 on the initiative of Jerzy Rezler, a former sound engineer.

What you can see

The collections number about 300 technical exhibits: early radio receivers, vintage microphones, measuring and transmission equipment, the furnishings of a former recording studio, and mementoes of Wrocław radio staff. Among the collections is a sixteen-track analogue Studer A80 tape recorder, formerly used for recording film music and radio drama, including a radio production of "The Master and Margarita".

Tape archive for listening

Visitors can listen to archival broadcasts gathered in the museum's tape archive, including a recorded account of the International Congress of Intellectuals in Wrocław.

Nearby

The Krzyki-Partynice district lies a few kilometres from the centre, so it is worth combining a visit to the museum with another destination on this side of the city. Within a few kilometres are Grabiszyński Park, Wzgórze Gajowickie with a viewpoint, and Aquapark Wrocław.
