A peak at a height of 869.7 m above sea level in the Bystrzyckie Mountains, formerly called Vogelberg.
Smolna is a peak in the northern part of the Bystrzyckie Mountains, in the Central Sudetes, at a height of 869.7 metres above sea level. It formerly bore the German name Vogelberg, meaning Bird Mountain.
The whole mountain is covered by artificial spruce forests, with a small admixture of beech and sycamore. This is a landscape typical of the Bystrzyckie Mountains, made up of commercial plantings from decades ago, with no natural broadleaf stands.
A green tourist trail runs through the area at the foot of the mountain, linking Pokrzywno with Zieleniec via the so-called Green Road. This is the simplest way to reach the area near the summit on foot.
Smolna lies in the Szczytna municipality, near Wolarz and Fort Fryderyka. Within a few kilometres are also the Torfowisko pod Zieleńcem nature reserve and Leśna Castle, and a little further on Duszniki-Zdrój with its Museum of Papermaking.
