About Szeroka

A wooded peak of the Owl Mountains (827 m above sea level) near Grodziszcze, on the Main Sudetes Trail and the E3 trail.

Szeroka is a peak in the eastern part of the Owl Mountains in the Sudetes, rising to 827 metres above sea level near Grodziszcze in Ząbkowice County. Wikipedia describes it as a secondary peak of this part of the range, about 3.5 kilometres east of Przygórze.

Geology and vegetation

The elevation is built of Precambrian paragneisses and migmatites. The summit is flattened, with steeper southern and northern slopes and gentler eastern and western ones. It is covered by lower montane spruce-beech forest, and the whole area lies within the Owl and Bardo Mountains Landscape Park.

Hiking trails

Two marked trails cross the peak: a red one, a section of the Main Sudetes Trail running along the ridge, and a blue European E3 trail, which bypasses the summit on the north-eastern slope. The same route leads to Przełęcz Woliborska or towards Kalenica with its observation tower. Sources do not describe a view from the summit of Szeroka itself, as it is screened by the lower montane forest.
