An observation tower over 27 metres high on the summit of Trójgarb in the Wałbrzych Mountains, opened in 2018.
The observation tower on Mount Trójgarb stands on the summit of Trójgarb in the Wałbrzych Mountains, above the village of Witków in Wałbrzych County.
The tower is triangular in shape and over 27 metres high. It stands on a reinforced concrete foundation 1 metre thick, and its construction used 67 tonnes of steel, about 60 cubic metres of concrete and 50 cubic metres of larch wood. The structure has five viewing platforms, positioned at heights between 17 and 23 metres, reached by 160 steps. After dark the tower is lit by solar-powered lamps.
In clear weather the viewing platforms offer views of the Wałbrzych Mountains, Mount Ślęża, the Karkonosze, and even Wrocław. The range of visibility depends on the weather conditions on a given day.
The first observation tower on Trójgarb was built in 1882 by Martin Engler, the owner of a nearby restaurant. It was demolished, along with the shelter that stood next to it, after the Second World War. The current tower was built on its site and opened on 29 December 2018, jointly financed by the municipalities of Czarny Bór and Stare Bogaczowice and the town of Szczawno-Zdrój, with support from a grant from the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The Wałbrzych Mountains also have a similar structure, the Chełmiec Observation Tower, and in nearby Szczawno-Zdrój you can visit the Henryk Wieniawski Spa Park.
