A 19th-century Neo-Renaissance palace of the von Rittberg family in the village of Wierzchowice (Gaworzyce municipality, Polkowice County), with a surviving park and manor farm.
The palace in the village of Wierzchowice, in the Gaworzyce municipality, in Polkowice County, was built in the 19th century for the von Rittberg family, on the site of an earlier knightly seat of the von Kreckwitz family.
An earlier building on this site was already mentioned in 1791 as a manor house. At the end of the 19th century it was rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style, taking the form recognisable today.
The palace is built of brick, raised on a rectangular plan, with two and three bays, and one storey. Shallow projecting bays are visible on the front and garden elevations, and the entrance is emphasised by a recessed portico. The building is covered by hipped roofs.
Around the palace, fragments of a 19th-century park layout have survived, along with a complex of manor-farm buildings from the same period, known as the palace farm.
Similar landed-gentry residences stand close by: Dalków Palace, Jakubów Palace and Śrem Palace, which shows that this part of Polkowice County has retained a dense network of former landed estates.
