Monument on Słowiański Square in Głogów commemorating Soviet soldiers who fell fighting for the city in 1945.
The Anti-Hitler Coalition Monument stands on Słowiański Square in Głogów and commemorates Soviet soldiers who died in February and March 1945 while capturing the city.
The monument was erected in 1948 to commemorate 116 officers, 20 non-commissioned officers and 795 soldiers of the 3rd Guards Army who fell in the fighting for Głogów. It covers an area of 1,384 square metres and stands 12 metres tall.
In 1995 the monument was rebuilt: the sculptures of three soldiers and Soviet symbolism were removed, and plaques in four languages were added. In its current form the site is open to visitors.
A few hundred metres away stands the Castle of the Dukes of Głogów, and nearby you can also see the Głogów Town Hall and the Tolerance Bridge. Also nearby is the Monument to the Children of Głogów.
