A city museum in a historic villa at Świdnicka 30 in Dzierżoniów, with a permanent exhibition on the Diora radio factory.
The Dzierżoniów City Museum is housed at Świdnicka 30, in a historic villa built around 1897. The building originally belonged to Hermann Cohn, co-founder of the Cohn Gebrüder plant, one of the first mechanical spinning mills in the town, and is today listed on the heritage register.
The institution was established on 1 May 2011 through the transformation of the Regional Chamber, which had previously operated at the Dzierżoniów Centre of Culture. Since then it has functioned as an independent municipal cultural institution, gathering mementoes connected with the town's history.
The museum holds cartographic collections and documents relating to Dzierżoniów and the surrounding area, as well as relics of industry and craft. The permanent exhibition is devoted to the history of Diora, Dzierżoniów's radio equipment factory, presented among other things in the form of a spatial display. The institution also organises temporary exhibitions devoted to the region's history.
The museum offers guided tours and museum lessons for organised groups. A virtual 360-degree walk through the exhibition is also available, along with a photo gallery and museum publications for those interested in the town's history.
