Jewish Cemetery in Ząbkowice Śląskie

Ząbkowice Śląskie
About Jewish Cemetery in Ząbkowice Śląskie

A former Jewish cemetery on Wrocławska Street, demolished in the 1960s, with no surviving gravestones today.

The Jewish Cemetery in Ząbkowice Śląskie stood by what is now Wrocławska Street. The necropolis was demolished in the 1960s, when a housing estate called Osiedle XX-lecia was built on its grounds. Today there is no trace of the cemetery in the form of gravestones, and the surviving portion of the site is a small, 0.111-hectare patch of land between the blocks of flats.

A place without gravestones

No matzevot stand any longer on the surviving fragment of the former cemetery, the demolition in the 1960s affected both the graves and most of the land, given over to the construction of the housing estate. What remains today is ordinary urban space, not a burial site recognisable at first glance.
