An open-air exhibition by the railway station in Lubin with a historic Ty2-22 locomotive and 3D figures, showing the history of settlers from 1945-1960.
"Lubin Pioneers 1945" is a permanent open-air exhibition by the railway station in Lubin, run by the Historical Museum in Lubin. It was officially opened on 2 May 2022, and its subject is the history of the first settlers who came to the town after the Second World War.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is a historic Ty2-22 steam locomotive, bought by the museum in 2018, together with its tender and four carriages - two glazed and two freight cars. Inside and around the rolling stock are reconstructions of scenes from the everyday life of the settlers, along with more than 50 figures made using 3D technology.
The exhibition shows maps of the resettlements of 1944-1946 and plans related to the land-ownership campaigns in the newly settled territories. It is complemented by two panel displays with photographs taken from film material, documenting the period of settlement in Lubin.
