Monument to the Victims of War in Głogów

Głogów
About Monument to the Victims of War in Głogów

A granite monument in the Forest Park in Głogów, unveiled in 2000 in memory of the victims of war.

The Monument to the Victims of War in Głogów stands in the Forest Park, at the intersection of Bolesława Krzywoustego and Staromiejska streets. It is a granite monument commemorating the victims of war.

Form of the monument

The monument is made of two vertically set granite blocks, covered by a horizontal top block. The simple, heavy form of raw stone gives it the character of a memorial site, without additional decoration.

Unveiling in 2000

The formal unveiling of the monument took place on 27 May 2000. It is a separate structure from Głogów's Monument to the Anti-Hitler Coalition and the Monument to Shared Memory - each of them stands in a different location and commemorates different events.

Forest Park

The monument is located within the Forest Park, near the centre of Głogów. From here it is a short walk to the Castle of the Dukes of Głogów and the Głogów Town Hall.
