A road cable-stayed bridge over the Oder in Wrocław, part of the A8 motorway, with the tallest pylon in Poland (122 m) and several national structural records.
Most Rędziński (Rędzin Bridge) is a road cable-stayed bridge over the Oder in Wrocław, part of the A8 motorway, that is the Wrocław Motorway Ring Road. The crossing runs over the Oder and over the whole of Wyspa Rędzińska (Rędzin Island), next to which stand the listed Rędzin Locks.
The contract with the contractor was signed on 20 May 2008. In May 2010 the construction site was flooded, which delayed the work by more than a month. Load tests on the structure were carried out on 10 August 2011, and the bridge was opened to traffic on 31 August 2011.
The reinforced concrete structure of the bridge is 38.58 metres wide and is suspended on 160 stay cables with a total length of 25 kilometres, supported by a single pylon 122 metres high. The bridge consists of four spans of 50, 256, 256 and 50 metres. The bridge itself is 612 metres long, and together with the approach viaducts - 1,742 metres. In each direction drivers have three lanes of traffic available. The pylon is the tallest structure of its kind in Poland, and the bridge is the longest reinforced-concrete cable-stayed bridge in the country and the longest cable-stayed bridge on a single pylon in Poland. The 256-metre span is the longest reinforced-concrete span in Poland, and the structure itself is one of the largest reinforced-concrete bridges in the world by surface area.
The bridge design was developed by the "Mosty - Wrocław" Research and Design Team under the direction of Professor Jan Biliszczuk. The contractors were Mostostal Warszawa and Acciona Infraestructuras.
The bridge stands in the Osobowice-Rędzin district, next to green areas along the Oder. Nearby are Park Leśnicki and Park Tysiąclecia, and a route along the river can be combined with a stretch of the Dr Bronisław Turoń Trail Around Wrocław. Nearby it is also worth visiting the Swedish Redoubt.
