A private museum on ul. Zdrojowa in Kudowa-Zdrój with more than 10,000 historic toys, operating since 2002, with a branch in Krynica-Zdrój.
The Toy Museum at ul. Zdrojowa 46b in Kudowa-Zdrój is a private institution gathering toys from the past few centuries. It was founded in the spa part of the town and in time gained a branch in another Silesian resort.
The museum was established in December 2002 as a private initiative. In July 2010 a branch opened in Krynica-Zdrój at ul. Piłsudskiego 2, which shows that the collection had grown over time to the point that it no longer fitted into a single site.
The exhibition, covering 300 square metres, consists of more than 10,000 exhibits. These are toys from antiquity to the 1980s, though most date from the 19th and 20th centuries. Among them are puppet theatres, nativity scenes, building blocks, mechanical toys, tin and textile objects including dolls and animals, wooden and clay toys, and toy soldiers.
The collection has been shown outside Kudowa-Zdrój, including at the Museum of the Kłodzko Region in Kłodzko, at Książ Castle in Wałbrzych and at the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes in Szczecin. In 2012 the museum, as the only institution from Poland, received an invitation to take part in the World Congress of Toy Museums in Istanbul.
Nearby it is also worth visiting the Museum of Minerals in Kudowa-Zdrój and the Ecocentre of the Table Mountains National Park in Kudowa-Zdrój, and a little further away the Museum of Folk Culture of the Sudeten Foothills in Kudowa-Zdrój.
