A branch of the Wrocław City Museum in the Royal Palace, with the permanent multimedia exhibition "1000 Years of Wrocław".
The Historical Museum in Wrocław is one of seven branches of the Wrocław City Museum, established in 1948. It is housed in the baroque-classicist Royal Palace at Kazimierza Wielkiego 35, in the same building as the Museum of Medal Art in Wrocław.
The Royal Palace, together with its garden, served between 1750 and 1918 as a residence of the Prussian rulers of the Hohenzollern dynasty. The building has served as a museum since 1926. After a thorough refurbishment, it became a modern exhibition centre.
The main permanent exhibition is the multimedia display "1000 Years of Wrocław", presenting the museum's collections relating to the city's history and art. It is complemented by reconstructed palace chambers and a baroque room lined with Delft-style ceramic tiles.
From here it is close to Plac Wolności and the Market Square with the Town Hall. A few minutes' walk further lies Solny Square, and in the other direction the New Synagogue.
