For Children
Events for children in Wrocław and Lower Silesia: plays, concerts and workshops, plus ideas for attractions to add to your outing.
This page gathers events that organisers aimed at children and families: puppet shows, concerts, workshops, themed classes and library meetings. The list of attractions for children, such as zoos and play centres, sits separately in the directory, while here you choose a specific date and place. Below you will also find suggestions on how to turn one outing into a whole day.
Start with the calendar and choose the city of Wrocław. The category includes animated puppet shows, concerts for children, musical performances, ballet fairy tales, illusion shows, craft workshops and themed classes. Some are for the whole family, some for children alone, and some for parents, because organisers also put meetings such as a parents' club in the same category.
Read the event description, because it tells you whether the child should come with a carer, what age it suits and whether a ticket is needed. This information differs from place to place: a theatre hall is not the same as a library with a play corner.
The kinds of events that return most often in the calendar:
In Wrocław most often in culture centres and libraries. In the calendar you will see the Nowy Pafawag culture centre, Hala Orion, the Centre for Creative Attitudes in Leśnica Castle and several branches of the Tadeusz Różewicz Municipal Public Library, including the MultiCentrum. The Mercure Wrocław Centrum hotel also appears in the list of venues.
Libraries are a good choice for a first outing with a small child. They are usually quieter than a theatre hall, and classes are shorter. A culture centre works better when your child likes a stage and lights. Leśnica Castle, where the Centre for Creative Attitudes operates, is a place for a family outing that you can combine with a walk in the neighbourhood.
Outside the regional capital, events for children are organised by municipal centres in Lubin, Jelenia Góra, Oława and Zgorzelec. They have their own stages: the Muza culture centre in Lubin, the Jelenia Góra Culture Centre, the Odra European Cooperation Centre in Oława and the Municipal Culture House in Zgorzelec. For Lubin and Jelenia Góra we have separate calendar pages, described below.
The simplest plan is an event before noon and an attraction after lunch. Wrocław Zoo has operated since the middle of the nineteenth century and is the oldest zoo on present-day Polish land, and on its grounds stands Afrykarium, the first oceanarium in Poland presenting African ecosystems. The building is shaped like a ship, which children usually notice at once.
When a child prefers movement, check GOjump MEGApark Długosza, where trampolines, obstacle courses and air cushions sit next to a cafe visible from the hall, or Jump Hall with trampolines, a rope park and a climbing wall. For children who like trains and models there is Kolejkowo, a moving model railway in the Sky Tower with models of trains, trams, ships and aircraft.
All these places are indoors, so the plan works in bad weather too. The full list is in the directory of attractions for children. When you plan the day, remember that after a show a child needs time to calm down and eat, so do not build too tight a programme.
Wrocław has the widest choice: play centres such as Bobolandia in the Księże district, Strefa Rozrywki in Galeria Dominikańska and Loopy's World in Bielany Wrocławskie, as well as the trampolines and the Kolejkowo model mentioned above. An exhibition of exotic animals is run by Zoo Team in the Ołbin district, which combines a pet shop with an educational offer.
If the rain caught you outside the city, look for indoor options in the region. In Bolesławiec there is Ola's Play Centre with slides, ball pits and a climbing wall. In Kudowa-Zdrój there is Capitalna Zabawa with a three-level climbing structure and a cafe for carers. In Oborniki Śląskie children can spend time in Nibylandia, and in Kowary in the Park of Miniatures of Lower Silesian Monuments, where part of the exhibition is under a roof.
In Lubin, entry to the zoo is free all year round, and themed educational trails lead through the grounds of the former Wrocław Park. It is a good plan for a walk after an event at the Muza culture centre. You can check what else is on in that town on the page for events in Lubin.
In the Karkonosze mountains, families choose ZOObaczysko in Sosnówka, a bird park where the birds fly freely and children can feed them, with a maze and a sandpit, or Trollandia, a rope park in the forest in the centre of Szklarska Poręba, with courses for children from the age of three. In Jelenia Góra see the events calendar, because the town is a good base for trips into the mountains.
In the Kłodzko Valley visit the Minieuroland Miniature Park, a private park with replicas of buildings from Lower Silesia, Europe and North America, and in Złoty Stok the Gold Mine with an underground waterfall, a boat crossing and a narrow-gauge railway. If your children like plants, an interesting goal is the Wojsławice Arboretum near Niemcza, with National Collections of rhododendrons, daylilies, boxwoods and peonies.
For animal lovers there is also the Kubuś and Endriu Parrot House in Kuraszków, home to more than a hundred exotic birds and also rabbits, mini ponies, goats and Cameroon sheep that you can touch and feed. It is a calmer alternative to a large zoo, good for a short outing with a younger child.
The "Buy ticket" button next to an event leads to KupBilecik or Bilety24. Some classes in libraries and culture centres do not need a ticket, and you will see that in the description. Always check whether a ticket is for the child only or also for the carer, because the organiser sets the rules.
The age of the audience is not uniform. A show for preschoolers looks different from a concert for older children, and some offers in this category are addressed to adults, like the meetings of a parents' club. So read the event description to the end, instead of going by the name alone.
Remember to leave a break for rest between the event and the attraction, especially when the child is small, and leave time in the plan for a meal.
If you do not find an event for the right day here, look at the whole calendar. In theatre there are plays that may suit older children, in music family concerts, and in cinema family screenings and morning shows for children.
You will see the offers of cinemas and stages in Oława after you switch the town in the calendar. It is worth doing that even if you live in a smaller town, because events for children appear not only in Wrocław.
In the calendar, in the category for children, after choosing the city of Wrocław. You will see events in culture centres, libraries and other places that welcome families.
The Wrocław zoo is the oldest on present-day Polish land and has Afrykarium. In Lubin there is a free zoo with themed educational trails. The choice depends on whether you prefer a large garden or a short walk.
Choose a play centre, a trampoline park, the Kolejkowo model railway or a show in a culture centre. The region also has indoor attractions in Bolesławiec, Kudowa-Zdrój and Oborniki Śląskie.
