The calendar is built on music: concerts held mainly at the Miejski Ośrodek Kultury w Nowej Rudzie (Municipal Cultural Centre). Once in a while an event also appears at the Kręgielnia Nowar bowling alley, which shows that a concert does not have to mean a formal concert hall. Each entry shows the date and a "Kup bilet" (buy ticket) button, which leads to KupBilecik or Bilety24, depending on the seller. You check the time and the place in the event description.
Start by checking where the event takes place, because the atmosphere at a cultural centre and at a bowling alley is quite different. You go to the first for a concert in the classic layout, to the second for an evening in a more relaxed mood, with the option of eating something at the bar. Buy the ticket in advance and leave a few minutes in reserve for getting in. For an outing as a couple, choose a time that leaves room for dinner afterwards.
The calendar is updated continuously, so if nothing suits you today, look again in a few days. It is worth combining music with the rest of the day: an afternoon in town, dinner and an evening concert make a set that is easy to arrange once the ticket is bought.
Kręgielnia Nowar at Piłsudskiego 27 is an entertainment complex: besides the lanes there are arcade machines, pool tables, a bar and a café. It organises children's birthday parties and company events, and the car park and entrance are adapted for wheelchair users. Families with children can also drop in at the Bajkolandia play room, and if you feel like fresh air, Góra Świętej Anny (St Anne's Mountain) lies nearby.
A calmer option is the Municipal Public Library at Bohaterów Getta 10, operating since 1949 in a former brewery building from around 1880. It has three branches, one of them for children and young people.
