Events in Bogatynia: film screenings, plays and comedy shows under one cultural centre roof. See the calendar and book online.
Almost everything happens at the Bogatyński Ośrodek Kultury, the town's cultural centre. Most often the host is its Sala Widowiskowa (the main hall), and some calendar entries are simply labelled with the centre's name. If you want a single address for the evening, start there. This page shows the current portal calendar, so the list changes along with the venue's programme. If nothing on it appeals to you, check again in a few days: new entries are added all the time, including one-off dates.
Cinema takes up the most room. The programme includes screenings for children and for adults, in different language versions, so check each title to see whether the film is dubbed into Polish or shown in the original with Polish subtitles. Besides film, you will find the occasional play and stand-up or cabaret show. It is worth booking those early, because there is just one stage and the dates do not multiply.
You buy tickets straight from the calendar. The "Kup bilet" (buy ticket) button leads to KupBilecik or Bilety24, depending on who sells the given event. Before paying, look at the description, the time and the venue, and for family screenings at the language version. If you are going to the cinema with the whole family, plan the trip so that you leave yourself time to arrive, find the hall and take your seats without rushing. The same goes for comedy evenings, which often draw more people than an ordinary screening.
If an hour is left before the show, drop in at the Public Library named after Polish Nobel laureates. It has a lending desk, a reading room and a section for children and teenagers, and its branches work in Zatonie, Porajów and Działoszyn. It is a calm option for a rainy day or for an outing on your own. If you like to read and there is still a little time before the film, combine the two: borrow a book, then go into the screening with a lighter head.
If you prefer something active, the sports shooting range on Polna Street, run by the local Sports and Recreation Centre, offers air-gun shooting. Anyone aged 12 or over can use it under adult supervision, with no firearms licence, and an instructor leads the sessions. It is entertainment for an hour or two, good for teenagers who have had enough of screens and for friends looking for a shared activity before an evening at the cultural centre.
