Events in Bolesławiec: film screenings, plays at the Old Theatre, concerts and cabaret, plus ideas for the hours before and after your evening out.
In Bolesławiec the events calendar rests on a few addresses that are easy to remember: the Bolesławiec Culture Centre, the Old Theatre, Piwnica Paryska and Kino Forum. Cinema takes up the most space, but the calendar also lists concerts, plays and cabaret. Below we describe how to use them and what to see in town before an event.
In this town cinema is the biggest part of the calendar. Screenings take place at the Bolesławiec Culture Centre, which has two rooms: the large Forum room and the smaller Chamber room. Kino Forum is listed separately. When you buy a ticket always check the name of the room, because the same centre also hosts plays and concerts.
If you come with a child, look in the title for a note about dubbing. Older children and adults more often choose the subtitled versions. Bolesławiec is one of the towns in the cinema category where films are particularly frequent, so you have a good chance of finding a date that fits your day.
If you want to compare the listings with neighbouring towns, switch the town in the calendar. Lubin or Oława may have a different set of screenings than Bolesławiec, so do not limit yourself to one place.
The stage address of the town is the Old Theatre. In the calendar it appears under two spellings, Teatr Stary and Teatr Stary w Bolesławcu, but it is the same place. Theatre events go here, as well as to the Bolesławiec Culture Centre, so check the address when you buy a ticket.
Concerts take place in the Culture Centre and in Piwnica Paryska, which appears in the calendar as a separate venue. If you like big halls, look for the Forum room; if you prefer a smaller audience, choose the Chamber room or Piwnica. You will find the programme details in the categories theatre and music.
Cabaret appears in Bolesławiec less often, but it does, for example as a stand-up evening. The list of shows across the region is in the cabaret category.
The town is famous for ceramics, and ceramics sets the direction of a walk. The Bolesławiec Ceramics Museum shows local ceramics from before and after the end of the Second World War and has a department of town history in the former Kutuzov Museum.
The catalogue also holds a second card of this museum, on Zgorzelecka street, with exhibitions of Bolesławiec ceramics and a workshop of old pottery: Ceramics Museum on Zgorzelecka street.
For a short outing around town choose the railway viaduct over the Bóbr river. It is a stone structure almost half a kilometre long, made of sandstone from the mine in Dobra and built in the first half of the nineteenth century. For book lovers there is the Centrum Wiedzy library with a digital catalogue, e-books and discussion clubs.
The history of the town is completed by the card of the former Jewish cemetery. The surviving gravestones were moved to the municipal cemetery, and there are no traces of the cemetery on its former site. It is a place of remembrance, not a tourist attraction, so treat it with respect.
Bolesławiec has several indoor places for children. Ola's Play Centre is an indoor play hall with slides, ball pits, a climbing wall and trampolines, focused on birthday parties and animations. It is a good place for children who need to burn off energy when the weather is poor.
Fit Style Kids has an obstacle course, a climbing wall, trampolines and a ninja zone. On a warm day check the low ropes course by the national road, next to the municipal MOSiR sports complex.
After a screening or a play, an idea for a shared evening is the bowling alley with three lanes, darts and table football on Plac Popiełuszki. If you want to warm up after leaving the cinema, choose Termy Bolesławiec with a brine pool, a jacuzzi, saunas and a salt cave, or the Orka Water Park.
You will find more ideas for families in the directory of attractions for children and in the category of events for children.
Put the event in the evening and build the rest of the day from places in town. In the morning you can look into the Ceramics Museum, in the afternoon walk along the Bóbr to the viaduct, and before the screening eat something in the centre.
This arrangement keeps you from rushing between points, because most places lie in one town.
For families with younger children it is better to reverse the order: first a play centre or a water park, then a morning film show or a play. Children are then tired from movement and sit more easily in the hall. If you have the whole weekend, you can give one part to the attractions of Bolesławiec and the other to the calendar of neighbouring towns, such as Legnica.
The "Buy ticket" button next to an event leads to KupBilecik or Bilety24, where you finish the purchase. Before you pay, check the place and room on the event page, because the Bolesławiec Culture Centre has several rooms and the town also has the Old Theatre, Piwnica Paryska and Kino Forum.
If your plan for the evening falls through, go back to the whole events calendar, choose a neighbouring town or set a category filter.
Screenings are shown by the Bolesławiec Culture Centre in the Forum room and the Chamber room, and by Kino Forum. Check the room name next to the event.
