Czarny Bór

a forested summit of the Kamienne Mountains made of Permian melaphyre, between Czuba and Czarna Skała

Things to see in Czarny Bór: Jastrzębia Góra peak, a parish church and a baroque palace from 1784 that is closed to visitors inside.

What is there to see in Czarny Bór?

The main reason to come is Jastrzębia Góra, a 638 m peak in the Czarny Las range of the Stone Mountains (Góry Kamienne). It sits between Czuba and Czarna Skała and is built of Permian melaphyre. Spruce forest covers the summit and the southern slopes, while meadows spread across the north-eastern side. Access is free, which makes it an easy goal for a walk on your own.

In the village itself stands the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a parish church in the Kamienna Góra East deanery of the Legnica diocese. Sources give neither the year of construction nor the style, so ask the parish for details.

Can you go inside the palace in Czarny Bór?

No. The baroque Czettritz palace dates from 1784 and replaced a manor that burned down in 1775. Today it houses an addiction treatment hospital and the interiors are closed to outsiders. You can only look at the building from the road.

Where to go next?

The Cistercian Abbey in Krzeszów lies within a few kilometres. For more of the area, see nearby Głuszyca, Boguszów-Gorce and Grzmiąca, or the spa towns of Jedlina-Zdrój and Szczawno-Zdrój.
