Things to do in Okrzeszyn: border summits of the Krucze and Jastrzębie mountains, traces of an old stone mine and views over the Polish-Czech borderland.

Which summits near Okrzeszyn sit on the border?

Jański Wierch is 697 m above sea level and lies about 2.5 km south-west of the village. The Polish-Czech border runs across the summit, and it is the highest Polish peak of the Góry Jastrzębie. Geographers disagree on which range it belongs to, because some Polish researchers assign it to the Góry Krucze.

Bogoria (645 m) stands at the southern end of the Góry Krucze, also on the Polish-Czech border. It is mountain terrain, so check your route before setting out.

Where can you see traces of an old mine?

On Buczak (587 m), the southernmost peak of the Góry Krucze. It is made of Permian porphyry, which forms a small cliff on the southern slope. There is an old mine there reaching about 50 metres into the hill, left from quarrying stone. The peak rises above the Szkło valley.

Is there anything in Okrzeszyn besides mountains?

There is Luther's Chapel, a Protestant chapel from the second half of the 19th century. Today it holds a storeroom of the parish in Chełmsko Śląskie and is not open for visits, so it is more a roadside curiosity.
