Rybnica Leśna sits in the Suche Mountains: two summits with trails, paragliding launches and a quarry you can see from the path.
Which summit near Rybnica Leśna should you hike?
For height, choose Klin, 868 m above sea level, south of the village. Its northern slopes are mountain meadows where paragliders take off: more than a thousand flights were recorded there between 2013 and 2018. Three trails lead to its foot: the red Main Sudeten Trail, the blue one from Mieroszów to Wałbrzych and the yellow one from Przełęcz Trzech Dolin to Rogowiec. For something shorter and quieter, try Krzywucha (791 m), built of melaphyre, with a flat ridge and steep sides. Both are free and work well for a solo walk.
What is the quarry beside the trails?
The melaphyre quarry lies between Klin and Bukowiec, on the edge of the Wałbrzych Sudetes Landscape Park and a Natura 2000 area. It is a working site, so you cannot go in, but you can see the open pit and machinery from the road and the trails. The rock extracted here was once called melaphyre and is now classed as trachyandesite.
What else is nearby?
Further along the route you will find Jedlina-Zdrój, Szczawno-Zdrój, Głuszyca, Boguszów-Gorce and Grzmiąca. Check the trail routes before you leave, as the summit listings do not give them in detail.
