Bierutów attractions include two churches, a former synagogue and a bowling alley by the square. See what fits into a short walk around the town centre.
What is there to see in Bierutów?
Begin with the Church of St Joseph the Betrothed, a neo-Gothic building of 1891-1893 made of facing brick. It has two naves and a tower on the north side, topped with an octagonal helmet roof. Among the older furnishings a Gothic chalice from the 16th century has survived.
Not far away stands the synagogue of 1809 on 1 Maja Street, built of red brick. In November 1938 the Nazis set it on fire and wrecked it. Today it houses a school gym, so it cannot be visited, but it deserves a respectful pause. The third site is the Evangelical Lutheran church of 1884 on Konopnickiej Street, built for a growing Protestant congregation.
What can you do in Bierutów when it rains?
The Bowling&Bar alley works in the basement of a department store at 20 Rynek and opened in March 2025. It has three lanes and a bar and holds up to 46 people, so it suits a game with a few friends as well as a bigger gathering. It lies in the very centre, right next to the synagogue and St Joseph's church, so it combines easily with a walk around town.
