Kliczków on the Kwisa river has a Gothic castle from around 1300, a stable with horse riding and a lookout tower over a reservoir.

What do we know about Kliczków Castle?

Kliczków Castle was built between 1291 and 1297 as a brick-and-timber stronghold on the high right bank of the Kwisa. It formed part of the border defences of Duke Bolko I the Strict, meant to guard against raids from Bohemia. For almost seven centuries owners and uses changed. Today the stone Gothic castle operates as a hotel and conference centre.

Where can you ride a horse in Kliczków?

The Ducal Stable lies about 150 metres from the castle, on the grounds of the former Ducal Farm. The building is half-timbered with brick infill. The centre offers rides in the arena and in the Lower Silesian Forest (Bory Dolnośląskie), and also runs a riding school and carriage rides.

Where is the best view of the area?

The observation tower stands above the Kwisa reservoir, a short walk of a few minutes from the castle, and is a separate viewpoint, not part of the castle buildings. From the top you see the reservoir and rock formations on the opposite bank. Nearby there is a spot for a fire and a picnic, so you can extend the walk with a rest by the water. Entry is free, and couples like the place.

For a longer route choose Bolesławiec or Nowogrodziec.
