Przedwojów in the Raven Mountains: the peaks of Anielska Góra and Długosz and the baroque Church of St Joseph from 1693, still in use.

Which peak in the Raven Mountains should you choose?

Anielska Góra is 651 m high and lies in the northern part of the Raven Mountains (Góry Kruczych), the western part of the Stone Mountains. Nearby are the Cistercian Abbey in Krzeszów and Project Arado, and within a few kilometres the Dwarfs' Boulders reserve. Further along the same range lies the Kruczy Kamień reserve.

Długosz is a wooded ridge with several summits: 612, 600 and 590 metres. Spruce and pine forest covers it. It is built of Permian volcanic and sedimentary rocks, including trachyte, trachybasalt and Lower Permian sandstone, and of Upper Carboniferous sandstone and conglomerate with thin seams of hard coal. The ridge runs by the Cistercian Trail between Przedwojów and Krzeszów. Both peaks are free and suit a solo hike.

What church stands in Przedwojów?

The Church of St Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1693 in the baroque style. It is a hall church with two naves, a polygonal chancel and an eight-sided turret above the ridge. Inside survive a baroque main altar from the 18th century with polychrome sculptures and a painting of St Joseph from the same century. The church is active, listed as a monument and regularly renovated.

When planning a longer route, look at Kamienna Góra, Lubawka, Błażejów, Chełmsko Śląskie and Jarkowice.
