Lewin Kłodzki has a stone railway viaduct, Homole Castle ruins and the scenic Lewińska Czuba hill: three goals for a short trip.
What does the railway viaduct in Lewin Kłodzki look like?
The railway viaduct was built in 1903-1905 for the Prussian state railways by Italian engineers. The stone structure is 120 metres long and 27 metres high, rests on six spans and carries a single track over the Klikawa valley and national road 8. Trains still run over it, and couples looking for atmospheric photos like the place.
What is left of Homole Castle?
Homole Castle is the ruin of a 13th-century stone stronghold on Gomoła hill, above the Polskie Wrota pass. There are no interiors, since you can see the traces of the old building only from outside. It was entered in the register of monuments in 1961, with another entry in 2006. Nearby lie the Paper Museum in Duszniki-Zdrój and Leśna Castle.
Where to find a view in Lewin Kłodzki?
Lewińska Czuba is a dome-shaped hill in the Lewin Mountains, north of the town, which it shields from that side. It stands 555.5-556 m high, with a flat summit and mountain meadows. The open top gives a wide view of the area, and a railway tunnel from 1904-1905 runs through the slope. Entry is free.
