Which peak near Paszków is the highest?

Łomnicka Równia is 898 m above sea level and the highest peak in the northern part of the Bystrzyckie Mountains. A long ridge ends in this hill and drops sharply from the northeast along a tectonic fault into the Upper Nysa Trench. Crystalline schist and granite-gneiss form the rock, and artificial spruce monocultures, cut by many bare patches, cover almost all slopes. Within a few kilometres lie the Spa Park in Polanica-Zdrój and the Gorzanów Castle.

Kłobuk reaches 814 m and lies about 2.7 km northeast of the village of Lasówka. The European watershed runs over its summit: water from the eastern slopes flows to the Bystrzyca and on to the Baltic Sea, while water from the western slopes goes to the Dzika Orlica. Note that no marked trail leads to the top itself, and the spruce forest blocks the views.

What is there to see on Kamienna Góra?

Kamienna Góra is a 704 m peak above the Sokołowska Pass, near the village of Pokrzywno by Polanica-Zdrój. On its western summit stands Fort Fryderyka, a Prussian defensive structure from the late 18th century. It was built between 1790 and 1795 on the order of King Frederick William II. Map data mark the site as ruins, so check its condition and access before you go.

What is the Guardian of Eternity?

The Guardian of Eternity is a stone figure of a man in a hat with his hands folded on his stomach, standing at the start of the Way of Eternity. This 5.5 km route runs in a straight line from Pokrzywno to Huta. The statue was set up where a villager from the area froze to death in a blizzard, and a date, probably 1872, was carved on it. The figure was destroyed and rebuilt in 1989. It is a place of remembrance, so keep it quiet.

More places in the region are Kłodzko, Kudowa-Zdrój, Nowa Ruda and Lądek-Zdrój. The peaks alone are on the page about mountains in Paszków.
