Where to go with children in Strzelin?
The Granit Water Park on Okulickiego Street is an indoor complex with a sports pool, a leisure pool, a children's pool and a jacuzzi. It has saunas open at different hours from the pools, a gym and swimming courses. For rain and a family weekend it is the first choice.
For younger children there are two play centres. Dziecinada on Bolka I Świdnickiego Street covers more than 200 square metres and takes children from 1 to 12, with an inflatable castle and a monkey grove full of obstacles. For older kids the company runs a gaming zone called Strefa Pikseli. Strzelin Jump 4U at Wolności 30 has nearly 600 square metres in two zones matched to age. In the Monkey Jungle zone (160 square metres) you find a double pontoon slide, a triple racing slide and a zip line, and toddlers have a separate part.
What to do for sport and outdoors?
The Strzelin ice rink at Okulickiego 10 is open seasonally, in winter, and has skate hire, so you do not need your own gear. In summer the site turns into a roller rink or a tennis court. If you prefer a short walk, climb Parkowa, a hill of 183.9 m in the Niemcza-Strzelin Hills, right by town. Until 1945 it carried the German name Marien-Berg, and the present Polish name was given officially in 1954. Entry is free.
Which places of remembrance are in Strzelin?
The Jewish cemetery was founded on 15 May 1815 next to the existing Catholic necropolis. It served the local Jewish community for more than a hundred years, and during the war forced labourers who died were also buried there. No gravestones survive today. The synagogue, built in 1815 on today's Pocztowa Street, was damaged during Kristallnacht on 9 November 1938. These are places of memory of the former Jewish community, not a goal for a short visit.
