Stronie-Wieś lies in the Śnieżnik Massif: marble-rich Krzyżnik, the Janowiec ridge and Kontaktowa Cave in its slope. See the routes.
Krzyżnik is 701 m above sea level and lies in the Śnieżnik Massif, close to Stronie Śląskie. Marble was once quarried here, and it reached the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, among other places. The mountain is made of schist, amphibolite, gneiss and crystalline limestone, and after 1945 it was also called Góra Krzyżatka. Its ridge separates the valleys of two streams, the Morawka and the Sienna Woda.
Janowiec (884 m) is a point on the ridge through which trails run towards Stronie Śląskie. It is not a goal in itself, but it fits a longer hike well, because the ridge runs from Żmijowiec all the way to Krzyżnik. Both summits are free and good for walking alone.
Kontaktowa Cave lies in the slope of Janowiec, near the village of Stara Morawa. It is in a range known for karst forms, next to Niedźwiedzia Cave (Bear Cave). About 7 km further stands Śnieżnik, and the Śnieżnik Kłodzki nature reserve lies within a few kilometres. Check the entry rules before you go.
