Srebrna Góra

a summit with spruce-beech-birch forest on the route of the trail along the ridge of the Owl Mountains

Srebrna Góra offers a Prussian fortress from the 18th century, a shooting range in its bastions, a riding centre and Gołębia peak.

What is inside the Srebrna Góra Fortress?

Srebrna Góra Fortress is a Prussian complex of six forts built in 1765-1777 on the pass leading from the Czech side of the Sudetes into Lower Silesia. It was meant to defend Silesia against an Austrian attempt to retake it. The design was drawn up by the engineer Ludwig Wilhelm Regeler, with corrections from Frederick the Great. During the Second World War a prisoner-of-war camp for Polish officers operated here.

In the fortress bastions you will find the Historic Shooting Range. You can fire modern weapons and rifles from the Second World War, with live ammunition; pistols, revolvers and machine guns are available. It also works when it rains.

How to take a break from monuments?

In the fortress's shadow runs Gawra Equestrian Centre: lessons at every level, hippotherapy for children and adults, riding trips and overnight stays in cabins with bathrooms. For a walk, choose Gołębia, an 810 m peak in the Owl Mountains. It has steep slopes and a distinct summit, and the red trail along the ridge crosses it.
