Attractions in Łączna: a mountain zoo with polar wolves, paintball with bumper ball and four peaks of the Zawory range in the Table Mountains.

What can you do in Łączna with children?

The first address is Zoo Łączna, a mountain zoo in Wałbrzych County. It gained official zoo status around 2012. It keeps the only population of polar wolves in Poland, and new pups of this species are born there. The grounds are divided into zones that match regions of the world, with birds and mammals typical of Australia, South America and the Himalayas, and goats and sheep living alongside. From March to October a separate attraction, Lemur World, is open. The place carries the Family and Rainy Day tags.

Older children and groups will like Paintball Osada. It has fields with bridges and trenches, and besides paintball there is bumper ball, where you crash into others inside inflatable spheres. Families with younger children get a play zone with mini golf, bouncy castles and target shooting, and there is a grill and catering on site. The organisers take bookings for birthdays, stag and hen parties, company events and school class outings.

Which peaks are near Łączna?

The Zawory range of the Table Mountains runs along the Czech border. Dziób has two summits, about 693 and 686 m. It is built of Upper Cretaceous sandstone and mudstone, and in the north you can see outcrops of red sandstone and small abandoned quarries. A uniform spruce forest covers it.

Drogosz (about 681 m) takes up the northern part of the range, within the Radków municipality. The sources we checked show no marked trail over the summit. Mielna is a small peak of about 662 m, southeast of the village, and the Czech border runs just south of it. The zoo is less than a kilometre away. Rogal stands about 639 m high; at its foot, by the road from Mieroszów to Zdoňov in Czechia, lies a disused quarry of red sandstone. All four peaks are free to visit and suit a solo walk.
