Proboszczów in the Land of Extinct Volcanoes: Ostrzyca Proboszczowicka, a reserve with block fields, a riding stable and a shooting range.

What is Ostrzyca Proboszczowicka?

Ostrzyca is a cone-shaped volcanic peak 501 m high, the tallest in the Kaczawskie Foothills, about 2.5 kilometres south-west of Proboszczów. Because of its regular shape it is called the Silesian Mount Fuji. Ostrzyca was an active volcano over 5 million years ago, and its summit is a basalt neck, a solidified piece of the old volcanic vent. A trail of stone steps leads up. Entry is free.

What does the Ostrzyca reserve protect?

The Ostrzyca Proboszczowicka nature reserve covers 3.81 hectares and was created in 1962. It protects basalt block fields on the summit and rare rock vegetation. A relic of a Tertiary volcano survives here, so keep to the marked path.

Where can you ride a horse or shoot?

The Stable at the Foot of Ostrzyca keeps nine Wielkopolska horses and teaches riding under an instructor. It invites guests to get to know horses, not only to ride, and the stable stamps the geopark explorer's passport. The Granica Sports Club shooting range welcomes children, young people and adults, including people with disabilities. You can enter only with the owner's permission and in his presence, after arranging it by phone.
