Things to do in Sędziszowa: castle ruins on Wielisławka hill, views over the Kaczawa valley and two paintball fields nearby.
What is left of the castle on Wielisławka?
On Wielisławka hill (369 m above sea level) stand two ruins whose descriptions overlap. Wielisławka Castle is what remains of a medieval stronghold and a stone castle: the oldest stronghold appeared in the 12th or 13th century, and the stone castle was built next to it, on the western summit. Only foundations are left, so it is a place for a scenic walk, not for touring interiors.
The castle in Wielisław Złotoryjski is the ruin of a 16th-century building above the Kaczawa river in Świerzawa municipality, on the site of a stronghold destroyed in the 15th century. Fragments of walls survive, and the main reward is the view from the top over the surrounding hills.
