Samborowiczki is the start of a walk up Gromnik, the highest hill in the Strzelin Hills, with a lookout tower at the top.
What is there on Gromnik?
Gromnik is 393 m above sea level, the highest point of the Strzelin Hills (Wzgórza Strzelińskie), part of the Sudeten Foreland. Several hiking trails of the region cross at the summit, so it is easy to build a longer route around it. Entry is free and it suits a solo walk.
At the very top stands the lookout tower. The summit is granite, covered with beech and mixed forest. It once held a Silesian tribal stronghold from the 9th and 10th centuries, and after 1439 a castle of the von Czirn knightly family. The tower is a good stop for couples and anyone taking photographs.
How can you join the hills into one walk?
Very little separates Gromnik, the tower and Borowa. Borowa lies less than half a kilometre from Gromnik and the tower stands right beside it, so one outing can cover all three places. Gromnik itself is an important trail junction, which makes it easy to add further stretches.
Where to go when you want some quiet?
Less than a kilometre away, in calm farmland, rises Borowa, a hill about 336 m high. It lies away from the region's main trails, so solitude is easy to find. Check the access route before you set out.
