What to do in Oława in the rain? A motor museum, an indoor pool, play centres, trampolines and a library. Eight places under a roof.
Where can adults spend a rainy afternoon in Oława?
Best at the WENA Motoring Museum. It is a private collection with hundreds of vehicles, from classic cars to modern models, and beside the cars stand aircraft, motorcycles, bicycles and tractors. The exhibits are arranged so that you can walk around each from every side. There are also themed exhibitions from the communist era. For a calmer hour choose the lending library for adults at 1 Maja 24, with fiction for adults and teenagers from 13, school reading lists and popular science books.
Can you swim when it rains?
Yes, at Termy Jakuba. The indoor part has a sports pool with six 25-metre lanes, a recreation pool, a paddling pool for the youngest, a jacuzzi, a water slide and a spectators' stand. After swimming there is a sauna area with steam, dry and bio saunas. A dry playground is prepared for children, and the complex also rents out sports halls and pitches. In summer the outdoor part opens, over 1,300 square metres with a water playground, but in the rain the indoor part counts.
Where do kids run off energy when it pours?
Edu-Point on the third floor of Galeria Oławska has blocks, a slide, trampolines and tunnel mazes, plus creative workshops and interactive games. The educational stations engage children's senses, and the offer is aimed at different age groups, with a focus on toddlers developing motor skills. The hall is an idea for play whatever the weather, especially on rainy days. Zamkowa Kraina is done in a castle style; you can enter individually or hire the whole venue, and it offers puppet shows too. BabyBoom at 3 Maja 2 has an air-conditioned space and a cafe for parents. Its official website does not work, so check hours on the spot or via Facebook.
For older kids and adults there is Jump 4U in the PBS Mrówka hall: over 1,000 m² of jumping zones, a foam pit of nearly 36 m² and one metre deep, an Airtrack in 3- and 6-metre versions, a nearly five-metre balance beam over a safety cushion, a three-storey Monkey Grove of almost 200 m² and an inflatable two-lane 30-metre Ninja Track. Fitness 4U and Move 4U classes are held too.
What else is indoors and how to combine it
The shooting range on 11 Listopada Street, close to the Sobieski Castle, is not for casual visitors: only people with a certificate of fitness to handle firearms may enter, including those on training courses held on site. For families we suggest a mix from the list for children and the families page, and for solo travellers the solo places. A sample day: museum in the morning, pools at noon, a play centre or trampolines in the afternoon. All these places carry the "Rainy day" tag, and some also "For families", "For couples" and "Solo". The full picture of the town is on the Oława page, and ideas from the whole region are on the list of rainy day places.
