Churches in Boguszów-Gorce date from the 1920s. Learn their history, interiors and current state before you set out to see them.
The Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Gorce district, in the Wałbrzych-South deanery of the Świdnica diocese. It was built in 1928-1929. Father Martin Schramm, who arrived in Gorce in 1925, took on the construction, and Karl Fromm drew the design. The mine and the St Boniface foundation helped to fund it.
St Barbara's Church in the Stary Lesieniec district was built in 1927 of brick, in an eclectic style. The tower carries a large bulbous helmet roof, and the windows and the portal have pointed arches. The interior is a single nave with three modest altars from the early twentieth century. The church keeps relics of Sister Faustyna Kowalska. It serves as an auxiliary church of the Holy Trinity parish.
The third building has a different story. The Martin Luther church was set up in 1926 in a former restaurant, Zum Gerichtskretscham. Today it belongs to a private owner and stands in ruins. It no longer serves as a place of worship, and entering the grounds or the interior is not advised, so treat it as a trace of history to see from outside, not as a destination.
