a 688-metre summit in the Chełmiec Massif, former site of a Bismarck Tower blown up in 1947

Mountains in Boguszów-Gorce include Dzikowiec, Mniszek and Kopisko. Check the heights and the history of each summit and pick a hike.

Which summit is the highest?

Dzikowiec stands at 836 m above sea level with a prominence of 153 m. It is a summit of the Central Sudetes, in the north-western part of the Stone Mountains, about 3.4 km south of the town centre. It lies in the Wałbrzych Mountains Landscape Park, and the rock is reddish because it is melaphyre and porphyry of volcanic origin. A viewing tower stands on top, and the area serves winter sports, aviation and mountain biking.

What is in the Chełmiec Massif?

Mniszek has two summits, 704 and 710 metres, and its slopes fall steeply on both sides. In 1901 a restaurant opened here with a nineteen-metre viewing tower. Nothing is left of them today, but a climbing wall now operates in the former quarry.

Kopisko, also called Podchełmiec, rises to 688 m and lies between Cichawa to the north and Boguszówka to the south-west. It is built of Lower Permian porphyries, and mixed forest covers most of it. A Bismarck tower was built on it in 1902 and blown up in 1947.

How do you plan a day in the mountains?

If you have time for one summit, pick Dzikowiec: it is the highest and has a tower. The lower hills make it easier to build a route from several points. All three hills are free to visit and carry the tag Scenic views. After the hike check the attractions of Boguszów-Gorce, and for something more urban look at the churches in Boguszów-Gorce. Solo outings are collected in the solo section, and summits from the whole region on the mountains page.
