Bolesławiec on a rainy day? You have a spa with a salt cave, a ceramics museum, bowling and two play centres. Here is how to spend a grey day under a roof.
Where can you get into the water despite the rain?
For water, choose Termy Bolesławiec at Zgorzelecka 52. It has a brine pool, a recreation pool, a jacuzzi, saunas and a salt cave with a microclimate close to the seaside, plus water classes such as aqua fitness. An alternative is the Orka Water Park at Popiełuszki square 1, an indoor city pool run by MOSiR, used by residents and by tourists looking for something to do on a rainy day.
What can you visit under a roof?
The Ceramics Museum works in two buildings: the directors and the Ceramics Department have their seat on Mickiewicza street, and the City History Department is on Kutuzowa street. The museum was founded in 1908 as the Municipal Museum, opened to visitors in 1911, and has carried its present name since 1967. Both world wars interrupted its work and part of the collection was lost. The permanent exhibitions show Bolesławiec ceramics from before 1945 and after 1945, and the offer includes guided tours and themed walks around the town. The Centre of Old Pottery Techniques runs a workshop of traditional pottery.
For a quieter afternoon, choose the Norwid Municipal Public Library at Głowackiego 5. The book catalogue is in the Primo system, e-books are on the Legimi platform, and there are more than ten discussion clubs. The library carries the rainy-day and solo tags, so it suits an outing on your own.
Where do children and adults play?
Ola's Play Centre covers 380 square metres: slides, ball pits, a climbing wall, trampolines, a sledge track and pitches. Fit Style Kids at Śluzowa 21A has an obstacle course, a zip line, a ninja zone and a jumping cushion, in zones matched to age, and besides play it runs movement classes and day camps. Ola's centre lives mainly on birthday parties and animation. Adults and teenagers can play at Bowling Bolesławiec at Popiełuszki square 2: three bowling lanes, darts and table football, plus a fan zone with screens for watching sports. The venue also hosts company meetings and birthday parties with packages for the youngest.
