a summit of the Bystrzyckie Mountains with the European watershed beneath a spruce monoculture

Mountains in Paszków: Łomnicka Równia (898 m), Kamienna Góra with its fort and Kłobuk on the European watershed, all in the Bystrzyckie Mountains.

Which of the three peaks should you choose?

If height matters to you, head for Łomnicka Równia: 898 m above sea level, the highest point of the northern Bystrzyckie Mountains. A long ridge ends at this summit and drops by a fault from the northeast into the Upper Nysa Trench. Crystalline schist and granite-gneiss form the rock, and the slopes are overgrown with spruce monoculture.

Want something more than forest? Pick Kamienna Góra (704 m). It rises above the Sokołowska Pass, near the village of Pokrzywno by Polanica-Zdrój, and on its western summit you can see a fort from the late 18th century. It was built in 1790-1795 on the order of the Prussian king. Check its condition and access before you set out, because maps list it as ruins.

Where does the European watershed run?

Over the summit of Kłobuk (814 m), about 2.7 km northeast of Lasówka. Water from the eastern slopes flows to the Bystrzyca and on to the Baltic, and water from the western slopes goes to the Dzika Orlica. The peak is wooded, long and flat, so it is hard to point out the highest spot, and there is no marked trail to the top.

All three peaks are free to visit and carry the Solo and Scenic Views tags. The full overview of the village is on the page about attractions in Paszków, and peaks from the whole region are in the Mountains list. Further afield we suggest Kłodzko, Kudowa-Zdrój and Nowa Ruda.
